Invoking Allah for Rain (Istisqaa)

كتاب الاستسقاء

(11) Chapter: The saying that "The Prophet (pbuh) did not turn his cloak inside out during the invocation for rain on Friday."

بَابُ مَا قِيلَ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يُحَوِّلْ رِدَاءَهُ فِي الاِسْتِسْقَاءِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

I p man complained to the Prophet (ﷺ) about the destruction of livestock and property and the hunger of the offspring. So he invoked (Allah for rain. The narrator (Anas) did not mention that the Prophet (ﷺ) had worn his cloak inside out or faced the Qibla.

حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَافَى بْنُ عِمْرَانَ، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً، شَكَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم هَلاَكَ الْمَالِ وَجَهْدَ الْعِيَالِ، فَدَعَا اللَّهَ يَسْتَسْقِي، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ أَنَّهُ حَوَّلَ رِدَاءَهُ وَلاَ اسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ‏.‏
