(34) Chapter: Hajj-at-Tamattu', Hajj-al-Qiran, and Hajj-al-Ifrad

باب التَّمَتُّعِ وَالإِقْرَانِ وَالإِفْرَادِ بِالْحَجِّ وَفَسْخِ الْحَجِّ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْى

Narrated Sa`id bin Al-Musaiyab:

`Ali and `Uthman differed regarding Hajj-at-Tamattu` while they were at ‘Usfan (a familiar place near Mecca). `Ali said, “I see you want to forbid people to do a thing that the Prophet (ﷺ) did?” When `Ali saw that, he assumed Ihram for both Hajj and `Umra.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَعْوَرُ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، قَالَ اخْتَلَفَ عَلِيٌّ وَعُثْمَانُ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ وَهُمَا بِعُسْفَانَ فِي الْمُتْعَةِ، فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ مَا تُرِيدُ إِلاَّ أَنْ تَنْهَى عَنْ أَمْرٍ فَعَلَهُ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم‏.‏ فَلَمَّا رَأَى ذَلِكَ عَلِيٌّ أَهَلَّ بِهِمَا جَمِيعًا‏.‏
