(14) Chapter: The Prohibition Of Praising if It Involves Exaggeration And There Is The Fear That It May Be A Source Of Temptation (Fitnah) For The One Who Is Praised

باب النَّهْىِ عَنِ الْمَدْحِ، إِذَا كَانَ فِيهِ إِفْرَاطٌ وَخِيفَ مِنْهُ فِتْنَةٌ عَلَى الْمَمْدُوحِ

his hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Shu’ba with a slight variation of wording.

وَحَدَّثَنِيهِ عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ، حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ، كِلاَهُمَا عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ‏.‏ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ زُرَيْعٍ وَلَيْسَ فِي حَدِيثِهِمَا فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَفْضَلُ مِنْهُ ‏.‏
