كتاب صلاة المسافرين وقصرها

(16) Chapter: It is permissible to offer voluntary prayers standing or sitting, and to stand and sit in the same rak`ah

باب جَوَازِ النَّافِلَةِ قَائِمًا وَقَاعِدًا وَفِعْلِ بَعْضِ الرَّكْعَةِ قَائِمًا وَبَعْضِهَا قَاعِدًا ‏

‘Abdullah b. Shaqiq reported:

I fell ill in Persia and therefore, prayed in a sitting posture, and I asked ‘A’isha about it and she said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prayed for a long time in the night sitting.

وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ بُدَيْلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ، قَالَ كُنْتُ شَاكِيًا بِفَارِسَ فَكُنْتُ أُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا فَسَأَلْتُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُصَلِّي لَيْلاً طَوِيلاً قَائِمًا ‏.‏ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ ‏.‏
