(22) Chapter: Saying the takbir over the deceased

باب فِي التَّكْبِيرِ عَلَى الْجَنَازَةِ ‏‏

Jabir b. ‘Abdullah reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

There died today the pious servant of Allah, Ashama. So he stood up and led us in (funeral prayer) over him.

وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ “‏ مَاتَ الْيَوْمَ عَبْدٌ لِلَّهِ صَالِحٌ أَصْحَمَةُ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ فَقَامَ فَأَمَّنَا وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ ‏.‏
